I love potato chips – Wavy Lay’s to be specific!
Before I found peace around food, and lost weight for the very last time, chips were something that I absolutely could not control myself around. I loved them (like LOVED them).
But, when I was on a diet and losing weight, potato chips were not allowed.
They were “bad”.
And, therefore I coveted them even more. I was constantly in this high state of stress and fear around them.
Once the diet was over and I had lost my weight, I couldn’t wait to go back to eating them.
I still couldn’t control myself around them, but at least I was thin… for a minute.
To get myself to stop, I tried throwing them in the garbage. But, I would just go grab them out of the trash can.
I actually dumped water on them so I couldn’t change my mind. This is what I now consider cray-cray even though, at the time, I thought it was brilliant.
But, I’ve learned a much much better way.
Now, I always have chips in my house. I can eat them whenever I want.
I can also stop eating them whenever I want.
This is how I lost the weight for the last time. And, rarely do I even think about them anymore. They have lost their power over me.
Which is a good thing because when there’s a celebration, my family and friends show up with Wavy Lay’s for me. In my old days, that would have been a big problem. Now, I just appreciate the thought, and I may or may not eat them.
They are no longer my dark secret. They no longer beg me to eat them. 🤪
No matter what your food is that stirs up your brain, the food is not the problem, and I can teach you how to handle your brain, which is the problem.
PART 2
How To Believe You Can Eat Whatever You Want

After I learned how to control my brain around potato chips, I started believing that I can eat them whenever I wanted to.
The interesting thing is that I actually ate LESS of them because I knew that I could always have more later.
Then, if I believed I could control potato chips, I realized I could control any food! I believed I could eat any food I wanted!
Then, it was a matter of asking the question: What do I really want?
Once you believe you can eat anything you want, you will feel total freedom around food.
When that tension around “bad” foods melts away you’ll actually want it less.
Isn’t it crazy how our brains want exactly what you “shouldn’t” have?
You can definitely lose weight in that high anxiety state, by feeling fearful of food…
But, you won’t be at peace with it.
And, therefore, whatever restriction method (diet) you’re using won’t work long term.
I will share my powerful story as well as an effective tool to help you relax your mind around food.

I spent decades struggling with my weight and yo-yo dieting. I went on my first diet at age 12 and my last one at age 50.
As a Weight Watchers lifetime member, I knew the points for everything. My specialty was restricting myself throughout the day to splurge at night. I was always trying to cheat the system to eat as much food as I could but still get my points right.
If you think that sounds like I put a lot of thought into food, you are correct!
When I felt the heightened emotions around menopause hit, I doubled down on my dieting efforts. Soon, it felt like all I ever thought about was food.
I felt like I was always trying to restrict and deprive myself of what I actually wanted to eat.
That is, of course, except when I would pig out and immediately feel full of guilt.
I felt totally exhausted and defeated. I started searching for a different way.
I learned that there are better ways to deal with the heightened emotions around menopause other than eating them. In fact, menopause is the perfect time for your transformation.
If there’s one thing I could change in this world, it would be how so many women are introduced to body image and diet culture.
Diets fail us. They tell us what to eat, but they don’t fix the reason why we eat in the first place. And, menopause can amplify many of those reasons.
That’s where the real work is.
