Ep 95 An Age-Old Technique to Stop Overeating

In this last part about urges and shenpa, I share this age-old technique for dealing with urges that cause overeating.

The next time you have urge to overeat, try these 3 steps to help you to stop overeating:

  1. Acknowledge you’re hooked (or have an urge.)
  2. Pause, take three conscious breaths, and lean in. Abide with it. Experience it fully. Taste it. Touch it. Smell it. Get curious about it. How does it feel in your body? What thoughts do you have? Become very intimate with the “itch” or urge of shenpa and keep breathing. Refrain from doing harm. Just do not speak, do not act and feel the energy. Be one with your own energy.
  3. Then relax and move on. Just go on with your life so the practice doesn’t become a big deal, an endurance test, a contest you will win or lose.

Try this and see if you find your urge to overeat lessens over time.
