One of the most important tools I use for my clients to help them feel more connected to their bodies is the use of the physical hunger scale and the emotional hunger scale. Our bodies are wired to eat when we’re hungry, and stop when we’re full, but because our connection with it has been severed, we have turned to outside sources to teach us how to eat.
In this episode, I discuss the effect of negative emotions on our physical hunger, and the tweaks I’ve made that will make it easier for you to practice paying attention to your hunger scales with the help of food journals. Emotional hunger is something you need to be very mindful of because negative emotions are the fuel for emotional eating. Joy eats are okay, but when you begin to use them to take care of those negative emotions, you actually hurt yourself and further erode that mind-body connection.
Make sure not to miss out on this episode! The sooner you begin to recognize those negative emotional holes, the sooner you can feel them and patch those holes without resorting to food.
