When a situation that leads to weight gain occurs, our natural response is to blame it on circumstances outside of our control. But here’s the thing: those are just circumstances and blaming them is a disservice to ourselves. We may not be able to control them, but we do have the power to control how we feel, think, and act about them.
I want to share a letter I received from my client, Andrea. After a particular event that involved her getting sick and regaining weight, she asked me how she can better manage her mind around stressful situations, and secondly, how to resist urges that stem from those events because she wasn’t quite able to follow my explanation about feeling your urges without indulging in them. So those two questions are what I will address in this episode today.
Just because you’ve gained weight doesn’t mean it’s all over. It just means you have the wonderful opportunity to learn something new about yourself so that the next time those urges or emotions come around again, you’ll be stronger and will be more equipped to handle them. Stay tuned!
