A New Way to Party Without the Weight Gain

PODCAST EPISODE 488

What if I told you that celebrating didn’t have to mean disconnecting from your body and gaining weight?

In this episode, I share how I transformed my relationship with summer celebrations from a season of overeating to a time of deeper connection and joy. I open up about my old pattern of “checking out” during my summer celebration season, which runs from my birthday in late July through my husband’s birthday in early September. I used to give myself permission to overeat and disconnect from my body, knowing I’d return to Weight Watchers afterward to lose the weight. Now, after 45 years of marriage, I’ve discovered a different approach centered on the concept of savoring. I explain my joy eating process, where you eat something without nutritional value bite by bite, stopping when done, and truly experiencing each moment. I share personal examples, from savoring my grandchildren singing “Happy Birthday” to enjoying anniversary meals with my husband, demonstrating how slowing down and pointing your mind toward gratitude creates more lasting joy than rushing through experiences.

Tune in to discover how managing your mind can help you celebrate bigger, better, and smarter while staying connected to your body and maintaining your weight. Enjoy the show!
