Do you eat when you think you might get hungry later, or do you wait for true physical hunger? Many people struggle with the difference between being truly hungry and being afraid of getting hungry.
During a recent coaching session with a client, I discovered something important about the physical hunger scale that I needed to share with you. We often eat at a zero or negative one on the hunger scale instead of waiting for a true negative two. This happens because we fear getting hungry later, especially if we’ve been on diets our whole life. The fear of hunger drives us to eat before our body is ready, which keeps us eating throughout the day. I explain the difference between true physical hunger and emotional hunger, and why eating “just in case” prevents us from making peace with food. I also share how to trust your body and break the habit of fear-based eating.
