Many people grapple with emotional eating. Some overeat when happy but lose their appetite when sad or anxious, creating a constant inner battle. This is a common and puzzling issue for those dealing with emotional eating
In this episode, Anne Marie, was a podcast listener and in this coaching session we’ll talk about a letter she wrote. She shares that she feels obsessed with thoughts about food and constantly worries about her weight. Despite following various diets and being mindful of what she eats, Anne Marie hasn’t seen much progress in losing weight.
We delve into topics such as indulging on weekends, feeling bloated after eating certain foods, and using fitness apps for calorie tracking. We also touch upon fear of weighing herself and past weights (177 pounds at Christmas time) compared to her current goal weight (145 pounds). I talk about how happy situations can lead to urges to overeat, but it is important to train the brain to recognize that overeating does not bring true happiness.
