Ep 93 Getting Unstuck from the Urge to Overeat

PODCAST EPISODE 93

In this episode we discuss Buddhist philosophy and specifically read from the teachings of Pema Chodron. The name of the book I’m referring to in this podcast: Taking The Leap-Freeing Ourselves from Old Habits and Fears.

We discuss the Buddhist philosophy and psychology regarding urges and how similar it is to the Tibetan term Shenpa. Shenpa is described as the knee jerk reaction to moving away from the present moment. What it feels like to be hooked or stuck. This is talking about how to sit with uncomfortable emotions. An urge is considered an uncomfortable emotion to leads to unwanted action. In this case overeating.

Listen in as we talk about Shenpa and urges.
