What do you think of when you see the word “mother”? Usually, some of the first words that would come to your mind would be caring, protective, and kind. One of our first instincts towards a child is to be protective and compassionate towards them. When they experience failure, we don’t disparage them for it. So why can’t you extend that same compassion and understanding towards yourself?
In honor of Mother’s Day, I want to introduce to you the concept of “Self-Mothering.” We’ve been raised to be so aware of what other people need, that sometimes, we end up forgetting to tune in to what we need as well. It doesn’t matter whether or not you are a mother, I’m going to teach you to apply the concept of mothering to yourself because you need that change for yourself.
You don’t need to lose 50 pounds to start feeling good about yourself, instead, you need to start seeing yourself in a brand new positive light. The more you give yourself space for self-compassion, self-love, and self-kindness, the easier it will be to eat and satisfy your physical hunger in a way that serves you best. Make sure to tune in to this episode because self-mothering is one of the most beautiful gifts you can give to yourself at any time of the year. Enjoy the show!
